Have you done the research and have the results but are unclear about how to write a journal article? Has your advisor’s most “helpful” advice been, “You need to publish in top-tier journals”? Do you keep “intending” to start your article but somehow never get past reading endlessly in preparation for the lit review? Are you afraid of pressing the submit button? This course is for you.
The Art of Article is a 10-week course designed to produce a shitty draft of your IMRDC article. (Introduction; Methodology; Results of the Research; Discussion; Conclusion.) Membership includes access to step-by-step instructions, checklists, coaching videos with Developmental Editor Dr. Jane Jones and TPII Productivity Coach Kellee Weinhold as well as interaction with a writing community via a private social network. Each part of the course is designed to help you create a first draft of a journal article!
This course operates from the position that you have zero content written. You’ve done your research. You have your results. Now it’s time to write. If you have something done, good for you! You get to skate during that section or work on another section. But we wanted to make it possible for people who have never written an article or been rejected over and over again to stop panicking and get to work.
(NOTE: The content is “dripped” one week at a time over 10 weeks, but your access to the course and the community does not expire). This course operates from the position that you have zero content written. You’ve done your research. You have your results. Now it’s time to write. If you have something done, good for you! Who we are:
Jane Jones, PhD. Up In Consulting.
Jane is a developmental editor and productivity coach. She works with academic writers on articles and books, assisting them across all stages. In particular, she works on guiding writers through the thicket of the first draft of an article together as well as responding to revise and resubmits. Her extensive experience with reviewers reports allows her to anticipate what reviewers want from earlier drafts. Her role in this course is the practical part of article writing: What goes where? How much should be there? Who you should be thinking of when you’re writing? What your voice should sound like in an article? As you move through the two components of the course Consider this and Do This, Jane is the wisdom behind “Do This.” Jane will help you get the words on the page, in the right order, in the most compelling way.
Kel Weinhold, The Professor is in.
Kel Weinhold is the productivity coach for The Professor Is In. Her role in The Art of the Article is assisting you in improving your internal experience. Each step, she holds up a mirror and asks: “’Why are you headed in that direction?” “Are you doing what you intend to do?” “What are the internal dialogues that are working for you and against you?” Kel’s experience as a writing coach will help you develop a more friendly relationship with your writing experience. She interested in writers being able to write an article without misery. Yes, you can write without being miserable.

Testimonials
I was one of the beta-testers of the Art of the Article, and I can only say this product is *fantastic*!! Since doing it, I have submitted one journal article and started a new one. I was feeling quite some trepidation starting the new one, then I went back to these materials and it was incredibly helpful to have the clarity of ‘first do this’ and then ‘now do this other thing’. It’s a seriously impressive process to get to the product we need – journal articles. Money exceptionally well spent. — Associate Professor
